I am so excited to tell you about Leandro's new music classes at the Orff Music for Children! He was a bit anxious at the beginning and not so sure about it, but after the first class now he just L-O-V-E it!
This class uses an approach to music education which combines movement, singing, speech, listening and instrument playing. The teacher, Wendy Rae, emphasizes the joy of music-making in a small group oriented structure. She uses a series of different sizes home-built xylophones based on the melodic barred instrument of the Indonesian gamela. They are tiny, small, medium and large xylophones. Very neat!
The instructor is a fabulous fun lady, she is so good with children. She talks about stinky feet and she makes all children jiggle and wiggle with laughter. She makes the parents laugh out loud again and again and so many awwws I hear when the children sing and say something cute. There are fun games and fun sing along songs. I have fun just watching them!
I strongly recommend this class. Leo is currently on Step 1. He has so much fun he has been asking me everyday: 'Is today music class?' or 'Do we have music class now?' Pretty cute!
