Introduction to the World of Snowboarding

Well, as many may know already, I am without any doubt a ski fan.
I just love to ski. We try to go skiing at least once every year. In a country where winter season is inevitable so long, the best approach is to make the best of the season and enjoy every moment. It took me a while to get used to the cold but now I can say that winter is fun!
Skiing is a great way to spend time with your family and friends, get to exercise and enjoy outdoors during wintertime.
Snowboarding is one of the fastest growing winter sports today. Due to this fact, we decided to get started on snowboard at COP (Calgary Olympic Park) , before the end of the season.
We could have started earlier, but as I said before, I am a skier and it was hard to put my mind to try snowboarding seriously.
On Saturday, February 26, 2005 at 9:00AM to 11:30AM we took private snowboarding lessons at COP. Our young instructor Joe was so helpful. It was an introduction to snowboarding and boy it was hard! The concept of having my legs tied up to the board and only balance my body on the board with my arms and sholders was hard at first! We stayed on the bunny hill almost all morning trying to GET snowboarding. After lunch, we went back and tried again, but by 3:00PM, we realized that it was enough! In the end, we will definitely go back for more practice, but it will take a lot of work. Meanwhile, I am back skiing in the mountains! Next weekend is going to be at Lake Louise!

Kerry and I went there at 8:00PM and we met Elvira and some members of the Calmeca Group, Maria and her friends, then later Cherrylin. Kerry was very impressed with the capoeira performance. I wanted to dance soooo badly. We had a taste of churrasco. It was delicious. Unfortunately they run out of Capiroska, but we had guarana instead!

Great night. Great effort Elisia, Paulo and all other members of the BCCAB! Thanks!
